I'm fed up, when i xc race usually 2.5 hour enduros i get hardcore arm pump and can barely keep the throttle going for about the first 30-45 minutes then i'll get through it and ride like a beast, but it's hard to make up the time i've already lost in the start of the race.
Its just frustrating!!!AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

But if i go out on the track the day after a race, NO ARM PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

help me??

Racing is physical and mental... and I think your mental is getting the best of your physical until you are too tired to care.

What I mean is, I think you are getting over excited or over stressed.

You are probably locking down on the bars too tight and holding it without realizing.
Try being mindful of that... talk to yourself the first few laps... make it a point to relax...
Touch your thumb tips to your fingertips, etc...

Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate start a good week before the race drinking that water. Banana's help morning of the day of the race for sure. Of course flex bars help and probably the best thing is more time on the quad.

Alot of people have this problem. You need to breath, arm pump sets in when your muscles run out of oxygen and lactic acids take its place. At the beggining of your race you are super tense and you breath alot shallower breaths. If you remind yourself to breath during the race and calm down it will help alot.

I was told to try asprin 30 min befor starting. It is supposed to thin yoiur blood a little. I tried it this weekend before my first race and I did not notice arm pump at all. I also drank like a gallon of water a day starting Thursday and few bottles before the race and several more during the race. I missed my water before my last 25 minute session on the last lap and that is when the leg cramps set in.
