Hi I am looking to find out if any of yous had similar problems. I have a 2008 KFX and it seems like everytime I go riding or do a XC race my quad seems to always go through coolant and my FI/temp light always comes on. Ive checked the system and it is not leaking internally but pukes coolant out of the overflow tank and boil in the radiator at times but the coolant doesnt show any signs of discoloration or contaminants. Should I flush the system and switch to Engine Ice or what should I do or look to replace?

Thanks

Check ur fan fuse and make sure ur fan is running first, and another possible cause is since its been getting hot couldve messed the head gasket up, same thing happend to my buddies yfz450

I have also seen a disassembly pic where a big shaving was in one of the water jackets.

I would double check the fan to make sure it is running. I would replace the coolant temp sensor... and go from there.

Just so you know if this does not sort it out... disconnecting the connector at the coolant temp sensor will (should) cause the fan to run continuously. You can try that to "semi-check" the ECU function to this input... and get some ride time in also, to see if it still overheats like that.

If it overheats with the fan running all the time, then obviously it is caused by an issue that runs much deeper.
