I've ridden both and have owned both. I had an 04' yfz for 4 years and I sold it. Now have a kfx. I've owned it for about 3 months. I havent had much time with the kfx yet, but it is better in my opinion. I know this is a kawasaki forum, but I have to say that I love yamaha as a company better than kawasaki. The yfz is a very good bike, but mine had a bog that i couldnt get rid of. I tried everything to get rid of the bog: took it to the shop 4 times, cost me $600. didnt help. bought a quickshot 2 for it. didnt help. bought a edelbrock carb for it. didnt help. I just could not get rid of it. Anyways besides that it was very reliable. Never had any problems out of the engine. the electrical wasnt very good( battery would over-charge). thats about the only bad thing about the bike. As for comfort the yfz had a hard seat but so does a kfx. the yfz kinda feels like your on the front of it, cuz the handlebars are so low. kfx is a little better in this department but still not as comfortable as a trx. I would go with the kfx though. reverse is a good plus. alum frame. good ergos.

ridden both a good bit and have an 08 kfx. newer models yfz with efi are really nice as well. either bike and you cant go wrong! one thing i have noticed is yfz seems to have wider gearing interavals. i guess im saying that right? you dont have to sift as much, and original stock settings make the bike a little higher off ground. i do a good bit of trails as well as the trips to the track so the clearance is a good thing. 2010 dirt wheels did a few articles on their opinion of best all around trail quad. they gave the kfx the nod, and then came back the next month and did a shootout of all the top 450's with full mods!!! great articles. AGAIN they gave the kfx the nod and said by far was the fastest quickest baddest of the group. says a lot about the KFX. when you let this thing breathe and do some fine tuning and the normal mods, this quad is PERFECTION! check out both because you wont be disappointed in either. plus...how fun is that! testing new rides. good luck
