First i want to say hey fellows. Im new here. I had a KFX brought to me as a trade offer but it wont run. I told the guy if i can get it to run i will trade so here i am tryin to get it to run, heres its story......He said he rolled it out of the barn to get ready to ride. He had it idling and walked in the house to lock up. When he come out he noticed it had died and thats all he knew. Now it will turn over fine but wont start. SO far i know its gettin fire. The fuel pump is priming but thats all i can tell. I pulled the valve cover off to see if it had jumped time and im not sure if i can tell. I have always built 450R hondas which are a single cam with simple timing marks. I will add some pics of what the cams look like when its settin on top dead center and tell me if it looks right. I found a dot on the intake cam which is pointing back. There is a line on the exhaust cam but once its on TDC the line can not be seen. Please help me out guys,. Thanks

Most folks will say first off if it will not fire to check the roll over sensor, unlikely that it came loose just idling but it is a known issue.
Also don't know if it is stock or if a Power Commander or any kind of fuel management has been added that may affect this as well. Many have had issues with electrical that have resulted in non-running or poorly running quads. I would be chasing those ends down first before getting really dirty. I have yet to hear of any of these jumping time yet but you never know. Post some more info on the quad and you may try the other kfx forum as well and I am sure some other folks will chime end and give you their 2 cents. |

make sure that the battery is 100%charged. if not it will have a hard time starting.

I doubt this is the issue with this bike, but I thought I'd mention that since you said you haven't heard of any jumping time. I know this isn't a normal case of "jumping time."
