Stock front sprocket is 14. I run a 13,14,or15 depending where I'm going riding (Dunes, open desert,or trail riding in the mountains). You shouldn't have any problems getting the gaurd back on though. My 13 is a Renthal. Its a little thicker in the center than my stock,or the Moose sprockets, and the sprocket washer won't fit onto the splines.

The kfx450 comes stock with a 14. With the 15 sprocket you might try trimming the quard down some with a grinder, I dont know if that will work, but thats what I did with my z400. I put a 34 tooth sprocket on the rear of my 450(stock is 38)instead of the 15 on front b.c. I knew it would rub. Remember if you leave the guard off or trim it down(weaken it), if the chain breaks it could slap your cases and that would not be cool!!!!
