What is best first modification for a 2008 bone stock 450 with out changing the gearing ..The next step or something else. I am looking for more torque. I am debating what gearing to use as I need to replace the chain and sprockets.

You can't get more with anything else for the price KB Motorsports is selling them for.

The only thing is that a fellow has to have a fuel controller to go along with the intake. So you are talking about $310 or so EACH. KB Motorsports has the Jardine RT99 exhaust system for $365 right now... unbeatable. Even at the full price from Jardine ($610) I felt it was the better mod at the time I did mine. It's good for the same gain, plus a nice weight reduction.... And the big thing for me was that the exhaust is a totally ZERO COMPLICATION mod... just bolt it on and go. FCI + PC5 is probably the next best thing though. Or 1st if you are totally against exhaust.

In my eyes and the road I went down from a performance standpoint the first mod should be a good fuel controller. Since the PC5 is out now I would recommend you buy that.
Here is my line of thinking. You buy the controller and you can run a map for the air box lid off and the pea shooter out and see a small increase in performance and no real worries of causing any other damage (Running lean or rich). To get the best out of a pipe or an intake you will need a fuel controller. You buy the controller gain a little buy an intake or pipe gain some more then the last of the 3 and bring the full benefit of the big 3 to the table. That is just my 2 cents. |

I could run my bike with the airbox lid off and spark arrestor out of the stock can. I could not tell a difference at all. When I put the Jardine RT99 exhaust system on I was afraid of being lean, but could find no signs of it. So I wanted to see if I could do some things to show me how close to the edge of lean I was. In steps I ended up to a point where I had the airbox lid off, spark arrestor out and even the whole end cap off the Jardine RT 99. Still no signs of being lean. Adding the exhaust was a big gain, and I can feel a nice gain for every step extra I made. But I don't make a habit of running this way. I'm cautious about risking starting fires and getting stuff in my airbox. Anyways, according to the condition of my plug, I'm still running rich with the exhaust. But I have a little something going on, so a sensor could be sending something to the ECU that's causing overly rich fuel metering. However, people who dyno tune report to me that when they dyno tune this pipe with aftermarket exhaust that it needs less fuel supplied to run the ideal mixture and make peak power (does a better job in aiding the intake of what is available). I don't know... maybe my bike will make it in the shop this week to find out if my issue is in any way related to fuel metering.

Any one of these would be a good 1st mod(exhaust, programer, or intake) I would highly recommend at least all 3 of these. It will completely transform the power of your bike
By the way a new full exhaust system for $365 is a **** of a deal (my ron woods was about $500)
