Default Why So Slow??

Over the winter my wife and I went from riding doubles on a Raptor 700 to having a 2006 TLE Predator for her and a 2008 KFX450R for me. Both are bone stock. We took them out dunning this weekend at 9000ft with paddles. Between hill climbs, cruising around, and a couple of drag races, I noticed that the KFX has NOTHING in 1st and 2nd!! We raced the Pred and KFX and both times with different riders it didn't even look like we were racing the Kawi was so far behind???

Is the KFX just that slow in a straight line or is there something wrong with mine? I thought it would be just a little slower than a YFZ... not the case this weekend.

Quick note: I love the steering and handling of the KFX!! I don't think that I could go back to something like a Raptor now!!

Thank you for your opinions!

Tim

Is this thread true? Are there really inconsistencies as far as power out of the box? If so, has anyone identified why?

is your KFX bone stock? i dont find it to be very powerful, but a gearing change may help... the gearing is just way too short IMO and a 15T front will keep you from having to shift so much

ya 15tooth up front will help!but in the dunes id say stick to stock!stock the kawis pretty fast so idk whats wrong w/yours if anything!once your ready do the big three!

pc3
full exhaust
intake fci should be your olny choice 4 that!

once youve done these the bike will be unreconizable!i just recently did kx dirtbike cams and what a huge mid range gain that was my 2/3/4 gear pull hard up hills straights whatever!also dynoed my bike to get a nice consistant a/f ratio!now my bikes running real strong killing my buddy on his ktm525!
