Suspension seems all wrong....

I just recently purchased a 2008 KFX450r that looks to have been set up for flat track (the only reason I say that is because it looks SMALL). When I lift up on the rear grab bar there is easily a foot of travel, but when I push down….hardly any?

Can you point me in the right direction? I usually ride woods and tracks and feel that this setup is completely wrong.

Sorry for such a bland post, I’m new to the quad world and need any help/advice available.

I have taken the following measurements and can provide you with pictures if you need some. The quad is currently running a 18x9x10 in the rear and a 19x6x10 in the front.

Ride Height at the pegs with weight: 5 3/4"
Ride Height 22" forward with weight: 6"
Swingarm sits 4.5" off the ground

Rear Measurements:
From the swing arm to stationary spot (light bracket)
w/o weight: 17 1/2"
with weight: 14 1/2"

Fully extended rear (stood behind quad and pulled up on the grab bar to fully extend the rear shock): 22 1/2"

Front Measurements:
From the ground to the bottom of the front bumper
w/o weight 11 1/4"
with weight 10 7/8"

Fully extended front (stood in front of quad and pulled up on the bumper to fully extend the front shocks): 13 1/2"

If I did my calculations correctly, I found that I'm around 35% rider sag and 22% free sag.

The front shocks look to have 2 sets of springs on them (one main spring and one short fox spring) and the rear seems to be adjusted all the way down (a lot of threads are above the lock rings).

Again, I really appreciate any advice or insight that you may be able to provide. I have attached a few pictures for you to use as a reference.

Any recommendations as to what I need to do (if anything) to set it up for trails and occasional mx riding?

Wow im sure that really helps alot of ppl. GET OUT YOU COME ON QUAD FORUMS AND THEN REPLY TO THREADS THAT ARE WAY OLD AND YOU POST USELESS GARBAGE ON TOP OF THAT.
