There is nothing wrong with this lid. It's much cheaper then the EHS lid and does the exact same thing. It keeps the air box very clean. I ride woods and dunes and tracks. It won't repel a bunch of water but it keeps my other filters cleaner longer.

Appears EHS has some competition. I own the EHS lid which does have some water repelency to the material used however the protection from water does wear off over time. EHS does market replacement material at minimal cost to rejuvinate the water repelency factor. This is an advantage when riding in wet and muddy conditions.



I've tested with and without the EHS lid in comparison to a identically modded machine and noticed absolutely no difference in performance. There was no air restriction from the EHS aftermarket top as I would assume you would experience as well.

The only way you might improve air flow is by going to a boxless K&N with prefilter but there are negatives
to that set up also.

The materialed tops do provide some benefit when slinging sand also if you are duning and want to keep the box clean from large sand particles.

Looks like a nice set up. cost??

These run $80 from RMATV. There is no repellent on the fabric. I'm pondering a light coat of scotch guard before my next ride.

I tend to agree with you for dune riding however if you venture off into the wilderness up here in MN or WI without a box you might as well plan replacing the piston and rings every other ride (maybe more depending on just how bad the conditions are.

If you could fab up a three sided box (top and back open) and still make that hp you might have something for semi-dry woods riding.

I do have an air box version. The box has front, bottom and sides. The back is open, but it butts up against the tool box area. So basically it is a complete air box with no top. This makes the same HP as the air box eliminator version. I have a few theorys about open filters. One is that a closed box is about the worst think. Not only does it rob power , but any dirt, mud or water that does get into the box ...... stays in the box and is circulated around and in the filter for the whole ride or until the filter and box are cleaned. With my LTR450 air box eliminator kit people have used them in muddy mx races with no issues. Now they do clean or change the filter after every ride ...... as everyone should. So if you ride in deep mud and water yes the air box version is the way to go. The air box eliminator version will be fine for small puddles ect.
