Does anybody have info on the dune tire shootout? I read somewhere that fuel did one and cant find where I read that or any info on a dune tire shootout. I'm looking for a good all around paddle, for sliding and drags. Everybody tends to lean toward the hauler from what I see but how many paddles. I only get to dune once or twice a year so looking for my best bang out of a tire. What size also? THANKS

Paddle tires & gearing http://www.ltr450hq.com/invision/forums/in...c=2119&st=0 and of course the "Great Paddle Thread" - 24 pages so far http://www.yfzcentral.com/invision/i...howtopic=13062 <<< SNIP >>> I have more at work, but this is what I have on this computer. From what I've read: where you plan to ride, what type of riding you do, how much you weigh, how much HP your bike makes, are all important questions when figuring out what sand tire would be optimal for your bike and riding style... this could be from the popular 21x12x8 6/7 paddle Extreme Haulers to 21x12x8 9 paddle Gliders ... on and on it goes. I just ordered me up some STU tires. 21x12x8 6 paddle Padla Brats Comp Cut on Douglas .125 rears and the 22x8x10 Razorbacks on Douglas .125 fronts. Cheap... no, but should be F U N! Just do some reading on some of the info that I posted above and you will have days and days of reading. |

First set of tires were Sand Stars on my KFX700. I can't complain about the tires as I never got stuck. I was ultra careful where and how I parked always. I did have to unbury the beast at the top of Buttercup Comp Hill when my wife got stuck at the top (not enough speed and too much weight.) Thanks for all the great info Fast1! |

Hey bdr450r, if you end up getting the Padla Brats Comp Cut, get the Berrymans sealant. I didn't originally get the sealant and I had a slow leak in one of my tires, so I had to always add air after every ride. After adding the sealant, I set the air pressure before I leave home and it stays at that pressure the entire trip.
I LOVE my Brats. If you don't want to drop that kind of money, then go with the Hauler's double buffs. Those straight paddles are awesome in the powder razor backs that you find after a bit of wind. |

Oh how I love those light weight tires. I just have to be careful when we get into some growth back in the dunes. Don't need a hole punched in my $$$ tires
A few weeks ago some of my friends were out at Gordons Well and those dunes were ultra soft. Powder razor backs that several others got stuck on. I love straight paddles as I can climb about any hill from a dead stop at the base if I want...... Ahhh, can't wait. I think I'm heading out to Mother G in two weeks. Git 'er done! |

Forgot I even posted in this thread... Took the 450 out to Sand Mountain in NV over the weekend first time, still on the 20x10x10 sand stars. Went up the hills fine but really bogs at starts. Should have tried some other paddles while there but didn't think of it. I do need a sturdy tire for running over rocks (found a couple trails with some nasty rocky parts) and whatever else, not into hill shooting only.
