Maxxis / ITP / Kenda

Guys, I'm trying to choose tires for my quad.

I can "live with" the stockers, but figure I will hook up better with something else... and mostly just worry about getting a major flat with them more than anything.

What tires work best on the KFX for woods trail / XC / GNCC type conditions?

What slides controllably and hooks up well out back?

What type of front tire profile corners and steers best on this thing?
High center (like Razr 2 or GNCC)
Med-high center (like Razr or IRazr)
Round (like ITP XC or Kenda XC)
Squared (like HD fronts or Bandits)


I typically run ITP or Maxxis tires.
But I've noticed Kenda is getting popular.
I've looked at their tires, and they are 6 ply for less money and weigh less.



Also, while talking tires... what's up with all the new sport "Radials".
Worthwhile or a sales pitch?

as for rears i just got itp holeshot hd,s and so far i like them good all around tire!as for front now i have itp mud lights there okay!ive seen some okay kendas for the front ill be doin the fronts soon not sure yet what im getn maybe razors or kendas!just a reminder if you see anything on rockymtnatv.com i can get you a discount i believe razs are backordered until june!

I have you in mind and plan to order from RMATV.

I have not re-tried my Holeshot HD rears and have not tired my XC fronts at all.
I was going to let them go with my 400EX, but do not have to.

The fronts are 22" though instead of 21" and so are some of the ones I looked at ordering.
Is that really going to matter????

(many 21" versions are not offered in 6 ply is the reason for considering 22")



I really did figure I'd have more feedback by now than this.

i personally like the 22 fronts mainly were i ride it adds a little more height to the quad as for performance differances i dont see any bothe feel just about the same on the bike its all rider prefferance!

Cool... I didn't think it would be a problem...

If tire sizes were actually accurate on height, I guess it could in theory raise your front end 1/2" and that might be enough to throw the quad out of it's "perfect balance" on the front/rear weight bias... but that's nothing that could not be fixed by reducing the preload some to adjust the frame rake back where it needs to be.

ya an 1/2 inch you most likely wont notice maybe unless you were a pro on the track 24/7 im lucky to hit a track once a year!were i ride which is mostly trails its fine!

I measured my ride height...

I'm 7.25" to the frame at the pegs, and I'm 7" to the frame all the way forward just before the frame rail starts to angle up.
So a bigger front tire is actually going to save me a front sag adjustment I think....

Provided the "actual" tire heights on my new set work to my advantage with a 22x7-10 front tire and a 20x11-9 rear tire.

Just so you know... I appreciate the help... and had planned to order through you, but bottom line was...

I COULD NOT DECIDE between the Kenda Klaws and ITP GNCC's

I ended up sitting in front of the computer wanting to punch myself in the head and time ticked down on the $100 off deadline.
I ended up down to the wire that bad and couldn't choose.

I made myself order the GNCC's just before time ran out.
In the end I chose those because I thought those would be easier to re-sell should I happen to not like them.


I know I cost myself some extra money because of this.
We could have both benefited...

I just couldn't get enough input to get my s#it together in time.
Heck, I would have been 1 minute 17 seconds late finishing up if RMATV wasn't in another time zone!
