All i have to say is thank god that the quad market is growing so fast that we now have 7 450 race quads being produced this year. I love that there is such a diversity of quads to choose from and that really unless you are a pro level rider that each is so close and offers differing packages so you can pretty much choose one to your liking. With dirt bikes you have what....5 choices and they are all pretty much the same thing. I love my Kawi and am very glad that I bought it (it fits my riding style and situations to a t) but I am also glad that every company is going to have to raise the bar at least every 2 years to stay with the compitition. In the future when i buy my next quad it will be as far above this one as this one is above my banshee and that took 22 yrs to reach where realistically the next generation of quads is more than likely within the coming decade.

Of course I have to say the KFX450 is the best..... after all it is the one sitting in my garage

my decision to buy the kfx was because it had reverse, for my type of riding(no track/race) upgraded the wifes bike from a z400 to the kfx, ive got the 700 raptor. Major competition this year with another three 450's
the ktm and the polaris both have reverse as well

There are a few reasons I chose the KFX450R.

1) It fit's me the best

2) Like the ride better then the YFZ and Honda 450
3) Love the styling
4) Aluminum doesn't rust

5) I don't like the styling of the Can-am, KTM and Polaris

Amen!!! My point is that I love that there are so many and none really the same (different strengths in different areas). For me it is the Kawi all the way.
Each quad has its differences and strengths in different areas. After putting a lot of time on the KTM quad I wouldn't even think about another quad for pure performance and design. Each manufacturer keeps stepping it up. Suzuki stepped it up awhile back, Kaw came out w/a few new ideas that made the sale to me, Can-Am has some crazy ideas and we'll see how they work, and KTM did the tried and true design but to be the top of the podium and have succeeded. No stock quad will outdue the KTM at this point. There are some points they need to work on imo, but out of the box there isn't much that will handle it.
All due respect to you Mr. Psychosis. Fast riders go fast on anything. Enjoy your KTM.
i like to stick with the main four HONDA< KAWI<SUZUKI<YAMAHA pluss polaris quads are the uggliest things ever made, even if it was the fastest and the seat did stay on i still wouldnt buy one.

Same here ! !

But I would have to answer 525 KTM if the engine size were not limited to 450.

LTGTR,

Andy
ktm has a lot of awesome features but for 9K?

Gotta love that phrase!!!! I run circles around the guys I ride with and I have the smallest bike. I don't quite know what to choose for myself. Wasn't even thinking of buying a new 450 for another year but my girlfriend left me so I guess I will have the extra cash to spend on myself this holiday season. Ok back up one sec.

I ride a 05 Z400. First sport bike I had been on in 5 years, after about 2 months of being back in to riding I threw some pro armor nerfs, renthals, then s few months later added ct racing pipe, k&N intake setup and turned my fan to toggle switch mode. I ride with a couple Honda 450's a Raptor 660, 700 and yfz 450 so naturally I have rode all of them and have my opinions on their strong and weak points. Ive been looking at the LTR and kfx models but all my friends say go yfz!!!!!!!!!!!! I like to be the reject of the group for some reason and just want to go for myself. Any help? the more I read now the more q's I will have.

If your an all around rider then i would go with either the Rapter 700 or the kfx450, both have reverse and are great machines. I like my yfz but im more of a trail rider and would have liked to have reverse.
Will the KFX hang with the other 450's and the raptor 700..right now i'm torn between the 2 bikes (kfx 450r and the raptor 700 i will be doing mostly trail/XC type riding
the kfx and the ltr are the two slowest bikes out in the 450 class. kfx needs major airbox mods to allow the motor to breath worth a damn and even then its still got gearing issues, wandering steering & hard as hell seat. All it has goin for it is the fuel injection and reverse if ur into that sort of thing. All the aluminum and its still heavier than almost all the other 450s. YAMAHA BABY!

If thats want you think stick to the other sites,i've had them all kfx all the way. Nothing starts out perfect.
True nothing starts out perfect but with all the extra years they had getting the kfx on the market they coulda done a lil more tweaking on it. Im sure every 450 has its strong/weak points but i havent heard much good of the kfx from everyone i know that rides one. It is an odd looking machine but i do think its odd in a good way. But lets face it...as good as the kx450f is they shoulda made the kfx blow everyone away on the quad market. Look at the KTM? now they did thier homework and gave us possibly the pefect quad hands down but im sure yamaha and honda will do sum major changing on thier 450s for 09 to try and change that.

They always hold back on devlopment, its good for the aftersales market and good for next years model sales. You can make any quad out run any other thats how its alway been and always will be.I not a fan of ktm but that does not make them any better or any worse just not for me.If the yz shines your penny thats fine.

Not to start here. But i raced with a yfz for the past 3 years. And it does not even compare to the kfx. Have you acutlly rode the kfx? Yes there heads are very restricted and there seats suck. The yfz seat wasent to much better. Yfz wasent faster either. LTRs are prob the fastest out of the box? hondas are prob the slowest. But honda motors have alot more potential then the other quads out there. Ive seen 65hp stock bore hondas. Most ive seen out of a kaw yet is 61hp out of stock bore. yam wasent up there. I loved my yamaha. but id pick the kaw over it any day

As for the question. I picked the kaw. Not because i own one. Ive rode ltrs there fast. but i HATE the feel of them. After seeing a box of motor parts next to natilies trailer ill pass on the CanAms. Ktms no comment yet. Polaris. Not to shabby. just not pretty
The KFX is by far the better bike for me but the KTM (aka KIDS TRAINING MACHINE) looks to be the bike of the future in this department. The DS is ok but looks like crap. The Honda is good only if your willing to put the money in the motor, the LTR is only awsome in MX races and the YFZ is great all around. Polaris are ok too but I think they need better ergo's. But by far the KFX is the best for me.
