Well this was the perfect time for me to install an HID system that I have been thinking about for months. Since I flipped my quad at Glamis the beginning of October and my stock lights got crunched pretty bad.

I ordered up a stock lighting harness, so I would not have to cut any factory wires. I soldered and double shrink wrapped the wires for the HID lights. They bolted up to the stock mounting tabs. I have one spot and one flood. Both are 6000k and are very bright.

So far so good. I ran around the block and it seems to work fine. I'll have to try them out at Buttercup this weekend.

If this works out, I'll post more details and costs.

Wow, that's definately an upgrade the KFX can use! I wonder if it's possible to replace the bulb on the stock housing with an HID one? Keep us posted man looks great!
Yep, it is nice so far. I'm heading out tonight to Buttercup, so we'll see how it holds up over the weekend.

First Issue: Both HIDs would not turn on at the same time. I would turn on the lights and let one HID warm for about 10 seconds, then flip quickly off and back on and the second HID would then come on too. This was due to not pulling enough amps thru the small wires from the switch. Fix: I hard wired power and ground wires (10 gauge) from the battery to the lights using a relay off of the High Beam signal.

Works great now.

These lights fit my situation pretty nice. I smashed up the stock headlights when I flipped my quad a few weeks ago, so I needed the entire assembly. I figured this would run around $100 or so. So for a few more dollars (OK, 1.5x more
) I could have HID's instead.

If you want a bolt in solution, check out the following link Quad HID System

Looks like the ticket if you are wanting a bolt in job. I would also recommend picking up a couple head lamp plugs (SOCKET-ASSY,HEAD LAMP P/N 23008-0079), so you don't have to cut into the lighting harness. Note if you run off of a relay, you should only need one.

I'll post back after this weekend.

Well the HID's worked great. They were very bright and I had 0 problems thru the weekend with them. I even crashed (yes again) and they are still functioning fine.

The light they put out is incredible! Sitting next to another quad running halogen lights .... it is just so hard to compare. Actually they don't compare at all. I have one flood and one spot both using 6,000k bulbs and they are wicked!
