I think kawi built the KFX450 more for XC than MX. From what i've read on this website it is not as wide as the LTR but might be wider than the YFZ or TRX. If they wanted an MX race quad like the LTR is they would of made it wider and have more torque in the motor, and some better tires. I'm not saying that is mainly built for XC but from the facts i have it looks like it is.

I will be building one over time to race mainly the 08 season it looks like. Plan on racing it mostly stock at first while racing all out on my Cannondale still. Yes, people still race them. Put some Evols and porting and wow. KFX will play second rate to my Dale as the quad to race in other classes unless I can hook some better sponsors to make it the main ride.

I have about 7hrs of ride time on one and atleast 5 on MX tracks at the Kawi Press Ride and the machine definately has potential. I just don't have the cash to pick one up plus build it immediately when I already have two other race quads.

well i would have to say it takes alot more strength and endurance to race 2 hours that it does for 15 minuts.
You clearly have never raced 20min motos. I raced XC before I raced MX and did quite a few of them. Just prefer more speed and flying so went strictly to MX.

I used to race 2hrs+ in hare scrambles and yes, I'd be tired. But I didn't train or anything; just went out to ride and did pretty good against other races. I started doing MX and would be more tired after each race, especially if I race more than one class. Try two 20min motos where you're nonstop going all out side-by-side racing.

It takes a lot more out of you, especially if you race more than one class. And I workout 4-5 times a week and do a lot of training so in much better shape now then I was back then. I give it up to XC riders b/c I know what you have to deal w/and it's quite a challenge. But imo, MX takes a lot more out of you.

i think mx and xc both take a lot out of you. mx is a 20 min moto but you are constantly trying to pass, jump, turn and so on. xc is 2+ hours going through the woods not really knowing what will come next. i am more of an xc racer myself so im setting mine up for GNCC next year

I'm going to use it for MX Racing for sure. I got a YFZ450, but im planning on selling it to get a KFX450R. I like the new KFX450R look better than the YFZ450, and also another reason why i want to get a KFX450R is because like everyone has a YFZ450, and i want to have something different to ride than everyone else, sport quads i mean. I don't like utility quads much at all. But when i get a KFX450R, I am going to get pro peg nerf bars, mx grab bar, and nationals mx front bumper and holeshot mxr6 tires all around, kickstart kit, and a slip on pipe. that would be a good set up for a start for mx racing. but this new kfx450r is like my favorite sport quad now, i just like the look and its unique.

PORTERHILLPERFORMANCE:

Oh you mean you've never seen an 06 Honda have trouble starting? There are a lot of unhappy 06 trx450r STOCK honda owners out there.

You see more problems with the YFZ's because there are so much more of them. It's just statistics. When Kawasucki and Suzuki has every rider on the track with one, you'll be saying the same thing about them. I hate to admit it, but Honda is the best quality ride out there.

TRy hitting the gas harder!!

So obviously you didn't win and don't know what it takes to Win.

Maybe a little more out of you, but don't worry, you can rest in 5 more minutes.

So it's either working your ass off for 20 mins....or working your ass of for 2hrs. Hmmmm

i raced mine on the mx track and in the woods last weekend stock. it did amazing on the mx track. the only complaints i have on the motocros track are the front shocks, they are wayy too stiff for me. i am only 140 lbs and i have them set back as far as they go and still too stiff for me. im going to get them rebuilt or either get some elkas this winter.
in the woods it wasnt what i thought it would be. its fast and the gears were perfect but the handling didnt impress me. i think all it needs is a dampner and it willl be good to go for the woods. i am also going to order a precision this winter or maybe sooner.

Yea i feel exactly the same. i have done 2 mx races on it bone stock and it did great. got a 3rd and a 4th overall. not bad. a steering dampner is a must though and some stiffer side walled tires. there is way to much side flex for hard cornering.
