I just bought my new GREEN kawi yesterday and I can honestly say that i am very impressed with it. I used to own and race an 04 yfz450 with over 4 grand in mods in it and the KFX450 has more low end power and acceleration than my yfz. I can lift the front end off the ground in every gear except 5th. how do u like that for torque? I have yet to actually race my yfz450 against it....because I SOLD IT! but im sure i could beat a yfz. Im taking off the head lights and black fenders soon to race so well see how that looks in a while.

If you like torque that much than build a C'Dale race engine. Way more torque than my KFX or anything I've ridden. From a Jap manufacturer I like the KFX best. It doesn't have the power of my race quads and I don't know if it even has the capability of that but it wins elsewhere.

My major complaint: The stock gearing. W/18's on the back I max out constantly and on tracks any gear below 4th is almost useless. I also haven't been able to find a larger front sprocket yet either. Other than that I really enjoy it.

my neighbor has an ltr450 and we raced with my kawi on grass and we were mostly even all the way through the powerband but he has that cherrybomb plug with a K&N and the spark arrester removed. so i think the kfx would be a bit faster if racing agaisnt a stock ltr. The ltr puts out about 43.1 hp while the kfx is about 43.3 I think.

In stock form KFX will beat a LT-R but for $40 you can make an LT-R really well. Your decision will be based what kind of riding you do. If your going to MX the LT-R might be a little to make race ready. If your an XC and trail rider the KFX might be your best bet. It's not as wide and reverse can come in handy in the woods. For dunes it really depends on your personal preference i.e. ergonomics, powerband and handling. If your going to dump a bunch of cash into one it really won't matter.

I love the low end power, and it handles excellent, but I think its lacking on top end power. I have raced a stock rappy 700 and a honda 450R the results were not good. I was mad at first, but I didn't buy it to win drag races. Other than that I think its the best 450 on the market for overall performance.

Well out of the hole you can't touch the KFX 450, first gear is useless on loose ground. We were racing on a dirt road and I could start off in third and not bog the motor. Well the results were the same when I raced both bikes I would stay about a bike length ahead until I hit fifth gear. We would stop about mid way through fifth because I didn't want to hold the bike at high rpm for a really long time. The rappy was bone stock and the honda had the air box removed, sparks exhaust and jetted. The honda would CRUSH me on top end power, but my KFX is still stock and kind of saw that coming. The rappy's are just top end bikes and he didn't beat me nearly as bad as the Honda.

My 2 nephews and i all bought new quads a couple months ago. I got the 700 raptor (after racing xc on banshees for 10 years) and they got the yfz450 and kfx450s. We did a lot of racing each other as they were all stock. The Raptor was the fastest by about 2 quads vs. the yfz (all races were consistent with riders swapping) and the kfx lagged the yfz by about 4 quads. The KFX does not have as good of bottom end as the yfz in my opion but it is an impressive bike. It handles amazing. We are all working on modding them now and will see how the improvements come along.

Looking at this picture, is it just me or is the KFX that much wider than the TRX? You can actually take a piece of paper and measure from ball joint to ball joint on both front ends and the KFX is quite a bit more wide.

I have a kfx 450 and it sounds to me like either it depends on the rider or the kfxs rnt consistant out of the factory because I have raced ltr450s with cherry bombs trx450s with full hrc kits and full a.m. exhausts yfz450s with intake kits cams full exhausts and a raptor700 with a trinity IV remaper filter and full duel exhaust and the only one that has beat me anywhere in the power band is my cousin on his raptor on top end. Now mine is bone stock with the quiet core/spark arestor out so im not sure whats goin on here but thats the way it is.

I agree, it does sound like they are very inconsistent. I have noticed this one feeling like it is getting faster as when he first bought it, it had a lot more difficulty pulling the front end off the ground than it does now. Regardless, the handling is very good.

Lets just say, i got 2nd off the hole shot in my last mx race with it bone stock. i only got beat to the first corner by a LTR b/c he had the inside. it has tons of torque. the handling is also very good but i have notice the steering is alittle on the light side for high speed racing, it gets a tad twichy. i honstly thing it is one of the better 450s, after a few mods, it will be a beast
