Well I was drag racing yesterday and I used to beat my friend's YFZ450 before his cam mod. He has full exhaust and k & N. Now with his cam mod I still take him but untill 5th gear when he very slowly starts creeping on me. I was thinking of swaping my 36t for a 34t or would adding a 15t front be a better idea instead. Is a 15ft and 36t combo overkill? Thanks.

go with the 15t-36t combo you won't have to take a link out of the chain with that set up and you'll save some cash. running the 15t-36t combo i think gets the same results as running the 34t by its self.

Thanks man, just ordered the 15t here at the dealership where I work. Also ordered the KX450F exhaust cam but don't know if that's even gonna be any help.

I don't mean to sound like a a$$ or anything, but Why does it seem like everyone buys 450s for drag racing? If you want to drag race buy a can-am 800 or raptor 700 or somthing of the sort. 450s are really meant to handle well and accelerate hard for motocross. Don't take this the wrong way though, if you want to drag your 450 go for it.

Don't get me wrong I do lots and lots of trail riding on my 450 during the week but it's just that on Sundays here where I live everyone gets together and drag races and my KFX450 has been doing real good and I want to keep it that way. My intentions weren't to drag race when I bought it but I've been doing it alot lol.

Just got back from glamis and DAMN the bike runs hard, but the gearing is way to low with my mods. The bike was WRUNG OUT 5th fast. It will need a 15 front forsure. As far as drag racing goes my KFX did pretty well. I beat 2 raptor 700's both had HMF pipes. Not sure what other mods they had, but i weigh alot more then they did and i beat them by about 2 bike lengths. A few simple mods and the KFX will run hard.

No doubt! I've been beating full bolton Raptors, Banshee's, YFZ450's and even the mighty LTR450! I love my KFX.

yep same here on the drag racing its an animal with just a few mods. so far since the mods i've only been beat by a couple drag banshees and a YFZ that has had alot of topend work done to it, even though the YFZ had topend work done to it he would only beat me by not much more than 1 length.

The KFX motor is the KX motor, parts that were changed, (maybe for detuning the quad?) intake track, pipe, cams (both), EFI, but we all want that, gear box, but sprocket change can take care of this, if you want your quad to accelerate more violently, change your camS, with the other two,(intake system & pipe)
Dirt Bike talk..(kx)
Some people ask, what is the diff between the kx intake cam and crowers intake cam? on top not a thing,
bottom and mid range gain, super x riders like this intake cam, crower could not inprove the exhaust cam on the dirt bike, they say its spot on.

Hey guys just got back from Glamis too and I love this 450 for dragging. I have the 6 paddle Padla Brats and they rule for dragging! I have the big three mods done right now and with the 68 roll out Brats and stock gearing, I'm about as good as I can get with the current setup.

Running in the flats I can wind up to top of 5th. I'm not yet into the rev limiter, but it is much better then my buddies 08 Raptor 700 SE. The Raptor is stock with the sparky pulled and he weighs in around 300 pounds. His bike will not pull 5th with his 8 paddle Edges. Top of 4th is all his bike will pull.

Now put a 11 or 12 to 1 piston, pipe, intake, programmer, and cams into that same 700 and I think it will cream me
