Oil dripped after first run

Picked my new beast this weekend, man what a difference from my Z400...the 450R totally rocks! I went riding on sat and when I cam out on sunday morning there was a tablespoon of oil underneath the engine (sitting in the plastic skid plate area), the oil was still full and I rode on sunday with no further oil leakage...should i be concerned with this or was it probably a gasket was not totally sealed until fully ridden? obviously keep an eye on it going forward but im' curious if anyone else had this happen..

I saw one post from a guy whos drain bolt was loose from the factory. did you check yours?
my motor was over filled from the dealer, and when i stood it up it leaked all over from the air box ( with it filled to the correct level it shouldnt leak)
i had a drain bolt loose after i took it in for the 10 hour service. i noticed the same thing, i rode one day and the next day when pulling it out of the garage i noticed a spot of oil on the floor.
I did my first oil change and filled it to the top of the sight glass and mine leaked and also my intake would pull oil into the airbox. I drained a little out of her and put it about a little over 1/2 in the sight glass and it is perfect no problems. I had the same problem with my outlaw 525. Si I assume about 1/2 glass is where it should stay.

Just a note: there are two drain plugs, check both, and always pull both when you change oil. the little one will strip out if over torked.

Took off that plastic guard...can see the dirt on the engine starting with the gear shift, looks like it's coming out of there somehow and running down, will bring back to dealer to take a look, i'm guessing the gasket is faulty. there is a clear trail of dirt that's laden with oil from the shifter...

I just noticed that on mine bike the other day "gear shift leaking oil and running down"

Everyone should check.

Mine had a tiny pinhole leak from the gear shift...it was either replace the case or just use a little liquid weld...I didnt want they pulling the case on a brand new bike so..went for the liquid weld, cant even see it it's such a small amount
I had a engine case replaced on mine because it was leaking oil.No problems since.

No sorry I haven't had this problem. Did you check the drain plug? Make sure it's tight.
I know when I got my kfx back in July of 07 after the first ride I lost 2 bolts on foot pegs. Make sure all bolts are tight on your quad. Do yourself a favor and by some locktite and go over every bolt on the bike.

If any one has a leak take it to your dealer.should be covered.if your getting oil in the air box.you have tomuch oil .when the motor gets hot the oil expands.also everyone should ck there quad.you should alsays ck over your quad every ride .its comon sence.
wow funny you all say that but i went riding today and got stuck on the top of a berm (went to high) and i noticed the same thing. it driped several times and came from around the shifter. i ignored it and kept riding checking every once in a while and didnt really do it again
when I changed my oil for the 1st scheduled oil change, I over filled it and it leaked from where the reverse lock out cable goes into the case. I thought it was the shifter seal, but after cleaning the case up with some brake cleaner, you could see it was from the little rubber boot on the cable itself. After draining some oil and getting it to the correct level, it quit leaking. A few days ago I changed the oil again and was sure that I didn't over fill this time. I ran the engine for a few minutes, and then checked the sight window and the oil was about 1/2 way. After a few minutes the oil setteled and completely covered the sight window. So I had to drain some more oil out. The next day, there was an oil spot on the floor under the quad. I looked at the sight window and again it was covered, and the oil was again coming from the reverse cable. Soooooooo I drained some more oil. My question is whether or not the reverse cable should be leaking oil even if the engine is a little over filled with oil? and when checking the oil level I guess the engine should not be started to get the correct oil level reading?
