I took off my stock airbox and intake to get ready for my new FuelATV intake and found something that scared me. The stock intake tube was filthy! It had ALOT of dirt and dust in it. It actually looked like it had once had muddy water in it even.

At least it still runs. Feck.

I clean my intake after every ride & hav never seen ''filth" in my intake tube I see that as a lack of maintenance on your part!!!!! "It had ALOT of dirt and dust in it" If so your motor has seen the same dirt/dust GL w/ that......

It wasn't lack of maintenance. I cleaned my filter regularly and made sure it seated up good each time.

Sometimes it is impossible to get those stock filter seated right. just when you think you are good ..... BAM .... you find dust in there. Just another reason to ditch that POS. The filter bolts onto my intake so you will not have that issue.

Fuel, I put your intake on last night. My only concern is if the stripped out factory hose clamps are going to hold the billet adaptor between the intake tube and the tube coming off the throttle body.

I look forward to the airbox. How much longer do you think it'll be before you send out the airbox?

This thing rips now!

If you stripped out the hose clamp i would buy a new one before using the bike. The hose clamp is like $3.00

If you have an air box on order it will most likely ship this week.

and what type of filter oil do you use? How do you apply it?

I also attribute the problem to poor maintenance skills.
