I am going for the KFX450 as soon as I can get one. I see the KTM says it will be race ready and have reverse but will cost $$$ more. And then the parts cost more also. My past Kawie's have not let me down so I expect the KFX450 to be all I need for X/c racing

Well you know the KFX450 parts are going to be really pricey too though, since the frame is completely different then anything else (except maybe slightly similar to the old dale frames) you wont be able to just try and find what parts might fit like the LTR (which actually you could use a few items from your z400/kfx400)

I would doubt that aftermarket companies are going to jump right on this too, unlike the YFZ, LTR, and 450R. I think since this is made more for XC racing (at least by all the features) they will make them, but take a bit longer and try making it more of a XC maching instead of taking the R&D time to make it a MX'er...then again, everyone knows they will still do it in time...

I just can't wait for both of these machines to come out (The KFX450 and the KTM450)

just got my kawi last week and i plan on racing it in the hairscrambles series. reverse is gonna be sweet in the woods. this quad is the one way ticket if you want a woods quad. it has so much low end torque. its simply amazing for a stock quad.

Just a heads up to fellow xc'ers before racing in a muddy race try to find a way to keep mud out of the reverse cable actuator thingy. I took mine to its first xc race last weekend and when it was over i noticed the thing was full of mud and wouldn't work a lick. But other than that I am extremely happy with the bike. Its gonna make a great xc machine.

Oh LOL! If you are who I think then congrats on your (2nd) place wasn't it? I didn't make it to the race but am trying to get a new machine by the Carlisle race.
Thats me
Led the whole race. I think I even had the overall for a little bit, ran over a stick that caught the shifter and stripped it out.
Story of my life. Hope I can do that good at the other races this year with the exception of the gear shift part.
Good luck with getting the new machine. I think you are making a good choice of bike. What is stopping you from getting one? If its availability We have one at our dealership right now that I am going to uncrate in a couple of minutes.

So are you a tech, or salesman? Where are you located? That sucks about the gear shifter. How much damage did it do? I am excited to get one, I havent even ridden since the Montezuma race last year, so I am itchin!

I'm the service manager at Cameron Honda,Kawasaki. Cameron is on I-35 about an hour and a half south of the Iowa Missouri line. Damage wasn't bad at all just stripped the splines on the shift lever. I was a tired puppy myself I had only rode once since Montezuma. I need to get on the treadmill or something.

By next year I think you will see alot more than a few at the GNCC's as this is what the quad was built for. Glad to see your joining the KFX450 owners. I love mine and it is awesome for X/C....
